Electrical Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to support the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical and hydraulic systems onboard vessels. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in shipyard or marine environments and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a technical team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support & Maintenance
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on electrical and hydraulic systems (e.g., steering gear, winches, cranes, valves, motors, pumps).
- Diagnose equipment failures using electrical schematics, hydraulic drawings, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Carry out onboard service work for newbuilds, retrofits, and vessel dockings.
2. Installation & Commissioning
- Install, calibrate, and commission electrical and hydraulic components according to project specifications.
- Conduct system testing, safety checks, and performance validation prior to handover.
- Ensure all work meets regulatory, class, and shipyard standards.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare service reports, test records, technical findings, and recommendations for improvements.
- Maintain accurate logs of work performed, spare parts used, and system conditions.
4. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all tasks follow workplace safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Support adherence to ISO standards, class rules, and shipyard requirements.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, or marine equipment servicing.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Electrical systems: control circuits, motors, generators, sensors; PLC understanding is a plus.
- Hydraulic systems: actuators, HPUs, valves, pressure systems, and fluid control.
Additional Information
- Willingness to travel for overseas service assignments.
- Ability to work in shipyard environments, including at heights or in confined spaces (training will be provided).
- Overtime and weekend work may be required depending on project demands.
