Estimator- Wet Utilities
A growing heavy civil contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth market is seeking a skilled Estimator with experience in wet utilities and/or earthwork construction. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to project success by preparing accurate, competitive bids and supporting preconstruction efforts across a variety of civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for wet utilities (water, sewer, storm) and/or earthwork projects
- Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and related documents to identify project requirements and risks
- Develop and maintain accurate pricing for materials, equipment, and subcontractor work
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field teams during the preconstruction phase
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Support project handoff meetings to ensure seamless transition from estimating to field operations
- Assist with proposal development, bid schedules, and project budgets
- Track historical cost data and maintain estimating databases
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in wet utilities and/or earthwork construction
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, production rates, and cost structures
- Proficiency with estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., HeavyBid, AGTEK, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and CAD files
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Self-motivated, deadline‑driven, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously
