Field Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Geotechnical Field Engineer with 3 years of hands-on experience to join our dynamic team in New York. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting field investigations, analyzing soil and rock properties, and supporting the design and construction of infrastructure projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute geotechnical field investigations including soil borings, test pits, and in-situ testing (SPT, CPT, etc.)
- Supervise drilling operations and coordinate with subcontractors and laboratory personnel
- Collect, classify, and log soil and rock samples in accordance with ASTM standards
- Perform geotechnical analyses such as bearing capacity, slope stability, and settlement evaluations
- Prepare detailed field reports, boring logs, and geotechnical recommendations
- Collaborate with civil and structural engineers to integrate geotechnical findings into design
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards
- Support construction monitoring and quality assurance during foundation installation and earthwork
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of geotechnical field experience
- EIT certification required; PE license or on track to obtain is a plus
- Proficiency in geotechnical software (e.g., gINT, GeoStudio, LPILE, PLAXIS)
- Strong understanding of NYC geology and local building codes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple projects
