HV Preconstruction Manager
Our client is an EPC contractor supporting the development and construction of large-scale energy infrastructure projects across North America. They are seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead project planning, engineering coordination, procurement strategy, and execution readiness efforts for utility and high-voltage infrastructure projects prior to construction mobilization.
This position plays a key role in bridging engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction teams to ensure projects are properly planned, budgeted, and positioned for successful execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preconstruction activities from project award through turnover to the construction team.
- Review contracts and project requirements to identify risks, milestones, deliverables, and critical execution needs.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, estimating, project controls, and construction groups throughout the planning process.
- Manage engineering deliverables and ensure design packages are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Support development and maintenance of project schedules, execution plans, and milestone tracking.
- Coordinate procurement activities, long-lead equipment strategies, and material tracking efforts.
- Evaluate scope changes and assist with cost and schedule impact assessments.
- Support project budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial setup activities.
- Maintain engineering logs, procurement trackers, submittal registers, and other key project documentation.
- Assist with permitting, utility coordination, regulatory approvals, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Identify execution risks early in the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate project kickoff meetings and ongoing coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support successful turnover of projects into active construction with complete documentation and execution plans.
Preferred Background
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- 6+ years of experience supporting utility-scale energy infrastructure projects.
- Experience within EPC environments supporting transmission, substations, solar, battery storage, power generation, or other utility projects.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, or equivalent are beneficial but not required.
- Combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.

- Strong understanding of transmission and distribution systems, substations, renewable energy, battery storage, and utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- Knowledge of EPC project delivery methods and preconstruction workflows.
- Ability to review technical drawings, specifications, contracts, and construction documentation.
- Understanding of project scheduling, cost controls, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing procurement activities and long-lead equipment procurement strategies.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling software.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
