Overview
An established, employee‑owned mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced HVAC Estimator to join its growing team in Charlotte, NC. This role is critical to the successful delivery of commercial HVAC projects, working closely with project management, engineering, and operations to produce accurate, competitive estimates in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed HVAC cost estimates for commercial and industrial projects
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing
- Perform quantity take‑offs for HVAC systems, materials, and labor
- Develop pricing for design‑build and plan‑and‑spec opportunities
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and technical input
- Identify risk, value‑engineering options, and cost‑saving opportunities
- Support preconstruction meetings and bid reviews
- Maintain estimate documentation and participate in post‑bid analyses
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HVAC Estimator within a commercial mechanical contracting environment
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, piping, ductwork, and controls
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with estimating software and take‑off tools
- Solid knowledge of labor productivity, materials pricing, and market conditions
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Design‑build estimating experience
- Exposure to large‑scale commercial, healthcare, education, or industrial projects
- Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent field experience
- Experience working in a collaborative, team‑based estimating environment
