Position Overview
A leading diagnostics and forensics team is seeking a Junior Forensic Structural Engineer to support its growing presence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This role is ideal for individuals with a structural engineering background who are eager to transition into field-based forensic work, investigating building performance issues and contributing to restoration design projects.
While the majority of the role focuses on forensic investigations, candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute to design efforts for repair and rehabilitation of existing structures. The position offers a unique blend of technical challenge, fieldwork, and design, with strong mentorship and career development pathways.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site investigations to assess structural damage, deterioration, or failure.
- Perform condition assessments and prepare detailed technical reports.
- Assist in developing repair and restoration design solutions for existing buildings.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and clients to deliver high-quality forensic services.
- Support litigation and insurance-related investigations as needed.
- Participate in documentation and analysis of structural systems across a variety of building types.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- EIT certification required; PE license is a plus.
- 0-5 years of experience in structural engineering, with interest or exposure to forensic work.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to travel locally for site investigations.
