Transportation Drainage Engineer
Location: Tampa or Orlando
A well-established consulting firm is seeking a Transportation Drainage Engineer to support drainage design efforts for transportation infrastructure projects across Florida. This role involves planning, designing, and implementing effective stormwater systems with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, and scour analysis.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop stormwater management strategies that meet regulatory requirements for transportation projects.
- Analyze existing drainage systems and design new systems, including ditches and conveyance structures.
- Use hydraulic modeling tools such as ICPR4, SWMM, and HEC-RAS.
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations.
- Create permit sketches, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct scour analysis and perform field investigations, including data collection and survey verification.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on transportation projects.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Florida highly preferred; Engineer Intern (E.I.) required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of drainage design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and stormwater management.
- Proficiency in software such as MicroStation, HEC-RAS, Civil3D, ICPR, and FDOT Connect/OpenRoads Designer.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with Florida transportation agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in roadway drainage engineering.
- Background working on District 5 or District 7 Florida Department of Transportation projects
- Proficient in HEC-RAS and OpenRoads Designer
