Position Summary
The Mechanical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and project management experience in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. The ideal candidate will be based in or around one of the regional offices (Lowell, Chicopee, New London, CT) and bring a strong background in managing HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial, institutional, or mission-critical facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all phases of mechanical construction projects, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality delivery.
- Manage project teams including engineers, field supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and internal stakeholders to align on project scope and execution.
- Oversee installation of complex mechanical systems including chilled water plants, air handling units, and process piping.
- Maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking using industry-standard tools.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Conduct site visits, lead project meetings, and support commissioning activities.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in mechanical construction project management.
- Proven experience in commercial, institutional, or mission-critical environments (e.g., healthcare, labs, data centers).
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
