Project Manager
Project Manager, Civil Land Development
Location: Downtown Denver, CO (hybrid)
Compensation: $105,000 to $135,000 base, commensurate with experience
About the Firm
A well established, Denver based civil engineering and land surveying firm founded over 35 years ago. Privately held, principal led, and built on a culture of trust, accountability, and white glove client service. With a team of 60+ engineers, surveyors, and planners, the firm delivers complex land development projects across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region with the responsiveness and ownership of a boutique practice.
The project portfolio is genuinely diverse: K-12 and higher education, healthcare, energy, municipal, recreation, hospitality, and even amusement parks. Office is in a sought after downtown Denver location with a flexible hybrid schedule.
About the Role
This is a true owner-operator PM seat. You will be the primary client contact from kickoff through closeout, leading civil design, coordinating with surveying and construction staking teams, and driving projects through Front Range entitlement and permitting. You will own scope, schedule, budget, and quality, and you will have the autonomy to manage your portfolio the way it should be managed.
What You Will Do
- Serve as the primary client contact and project lead across a portfolio of civil and land development projects in the Denver metro and across Colorado.
- Manage all phases of project delivery: feasibility, site planning, civil design, entitlement, permitting, and construction support.
- Lead integrated project teams across civil engineering, land surveying, and construction staking.
- Navigate municipal and county review across Denver, Adams, Jefferson, Douglas, Arapahoe, and surrounding Front Range jurisdictions.
- Prepare and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, and fee proposals; support contract negotiations and billing.
- Maintain ongoing client relationships and identify new project opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project staff.
Project Types
Experience across one or more of the following is strongly preferred: residential and subdivision, commercial and retail site development, industrial and warehouse, mixed use, institutional and municipal, healthcare, education, and energy.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Colorado PE license, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
- 5 to 10+ years of civil engineering experience with a strong land development focus, preferably in Colorado.
- Proven track record managing projects from concept through construction, including agency coordination and client management.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D and standard land development design tools.
- Strong communication, leadership, and multi-project management skills.
- Front Range market knowledge and existing relationships with developers, municipalities, or contractors are a meaningful plus.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Principal led firm with direct access to ownership and real decision making authority on your projects.
- Boutique feel with the project diversity of a much larger shop.
- Clear path to senior leadership; the firm actively invests in promoting from within.
- Downtown Denver office, hybrid schedule, and a culture that takes client service and team development equally seriously.
Benefits
Competitive base salary, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision, 401(k) with employer match, PTO and paid holidays, and ongoing professional development support.
