Job Title: Transportation Schematic Lead
Location: Austin, TX
Overview: Join a dynamic team for a national engineering firm to lead and grow a talented group of engineers on highway planning, design, and design-build projects across Texas and broader company portfolio.
Essential Functions:
As a Transportation Schematic Lead, you will play a key role in various transportation/highway engineering tasks, including:
- Leading complex transportation planning and design projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Reviewing and certifying schematics, engineering plans, models, and documents to ensure quality control and standards of care.
- Developing and analyzing alternative interchange alignments and concept studies to meet project goals and recommend design solutions.
- Mentoring engineering and technician staff on transportation design tasks.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of highway design standards, current software, and design manuals, trends, and guidelines.
- Producing and overseeing schematics, construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Preparing for and facilitating internal and client meetings, presentations, and plan approvals.
- Directing project staff and sub-consultants on various assignments.
- Serving as a liaison between clients and the firm.
- Coordinating and developing relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff.
- Supporting proposal and business development efforts, including developing Level of Estimates and submitting invoices for contract/work order execution.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation planning, schematic design, and/or PS&E development.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Expertise in OpenRoads Designer, Microstation, Geopak, InRoads, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong understanding of AASHTO, state, and local design criteria.
