A leading engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Planner. This role is ideal for a self-driven professional interested in contributing to diverse infrastructure and environmental projects while supporting team development and client success.


Role Overview

In this position, you will take a leadership role in managing environmental planning projects, preparing environmental documentation, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams. Projects may span sectors such as transportation, water resources, energy, utilities, and public infrastructure, including those with federal oversight.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage environmental planning projects, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight
  • Prepare and review environmental documentation (e.g., impact assessments, regulatory compliance reports)
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory agencies
  • Support permitting efforts at local, state, and federal levels
  • Conduct fieldwork, site assessments, and environmental resource evaluations
  • Provide environmental input on engineering designs and project plans
  • Monitor compliance during project implementation and construction phases
  • Develop technical reports, data analyses, and environmental documentation
  • Utilize mapping and spatial tools (e.g., GIS) to support project deliverables
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
  • Support business development, proposals, and client engagement activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, planning, natural resources, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred)
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental planning and permitting
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and impact assessment processes
  • Experience in water resources planning, including demand forecasting and risk analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with standard industry software; GIS experience is advantageous
  • Experience working with multiple regulatory agencies and stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
