Senior Environmental Project Manager
Overview
A client is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead permitting, regulatory compliance, and project execution for energy infrastructure projects. This role blends technical expertise with strategic leadership, client engagement, and business development responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental permitting and regulatory strategy across the full project lifecycle, including siting/routing, NEPA compliance, permitting, and construction support.
- Serve as primary client contact and liaison with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, schedules, and quality assurance processes.
- Direct and review environmental studies, technical documentation, and permit applications.
- Negotiate permit conditions and mitigation strategies with agencies and stakeholders.
- Support proposal development, business development initiatives, and client relationship growth.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10+ years of environmental permitting experience for intra- or interstate energy projects.
- Experience with NEPA/CEQA processes, FERC or PUC filings, and agency coordination.
- Strong project management, communication, and technical writing skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Experience with energy transition projects (hydrogen, CCUS, CO₂ transport, renewables).
- Familiarity with EPC delivery environments or third-party NEPA contracting.
- Existing relationships with relevant regulatory agencies.
