The Opportunity
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will lead and support transportation-focused geotechnical projects from planning and investigation through analysis, design, and construction support. A significant portion of the work involves complex design-build transportation projects, providing exposure to fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environments where geotechnical input plays a critical role in successful delivery.
This position offers significant technical ownership and the opportunity to work directly with clients, project stakeholders, and internal engineering teams. You'll also help mentor junior engineers while contributing to the continued growth and development of the geotechnical group.
Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical engineering and design efforts for transportation infrastructure projects
- Support the delivery of complex design-build transportation projects
- Plan, manage, and review subsurface investigation programs
- Develop and oversee foundation design recommendations for transportation structures
- Prepare earthwork, grading, and pavement design recommendations
- Perform slope stability evaluations and advanced geotechnical analyses
- Review technical reports, calculations, and engineering deliverables
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, and transportation engineering teams
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and client expectations
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior engineering staff
- Build and maintain relationships with DOT agencies, clients, and project stakeholders
- Contribute to proposal efforts, project planning, and strategic growth initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong experience delivering transportation infrastructure projects
- Experience working directly with DOT clients and agency standards
- Design-build transportation project experience preferred
- Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations, foundation design, earthwork, pavement design, and slope stability analysis
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills
- Experience managing projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently while thriving within a collaborative team environment
