Senior Project Engineer II- Mechanical

Position Summary

This role is responsible for delivering engineering services and technical consultation requiring advanced knowledge of power plant operations, with a focus on combined‑cycle facilities and related auxiliary systems. The position oversees and coordinates engineering activities that support plant operations and maintenance, ensuring improved reliability, operability, and maintainability.

Key responsibilities include planning, developing, designing, and executing capital and major‑expense projects. This covers identifying project needs, defining scope, providing engineering oversight, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. The role also involves reviewing engineering drawings, technical calculations, and vendor deliverables to ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and internal policies. Additionally, the position leads continuous‑improvement initiatives and supports alignment with organizational goals. This role blends technical power‑generation expertise with strong project‑management capabilities.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program required
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration and PMP certification preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible engineering experience in large power plants or industrial facilities
  • Experience with design, construction, project management, operations, and maintenance environments
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and technical specifications, budgetary estimates, material evaluations, and construction work planning

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools used in construction and repair of power‑generation facilities
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Experience in project development, planning, and implementation
  • Cost‑benefit analysis
  • EPC contract review, execution, and management
  • Understanding of applicable codes and standards for combined‑cycle facilities
  • Ability to interpret and modify technical drawings
  • Experience with equipment, system, and process assessments
  • Proficiency with standard office and engineering software tools
