About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer is a technically strong commissioning professional with demonstrated experience leading field activities and coordinating across multidisciplinary teams. This individual serves as a key technical and project lead on larger projects, acting as a liaison between the field, design teams, and clients.

The role requires proactive communication, sound judgment, and the ability to balance technical excellence, client relationships, and project financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and submittals
  • Develop project-specific inspection and testing procedures, functional performance test scripts, and system-level testing documentation
  • Lead and direct equipment- and system-level testing to verify compliance with project requirements
  • Document testing results and clearly identify and describe deficiencies
  • Interpret and apply industry standards, guidelines, and certification requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED, WELL)
  • Oversee commissioning processes to ensure compliance with applicable certification programs
  • Review and approve equipment performance data, including BMS trend logs and field measurements
  • Identify normal and abnormal operational characteristics of building systems
  • Perform site surveys and document technical findings
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable local building and energy codes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • 4+ years of relevant commissioning experience
  • Dedicated experience in retro-commissioning, including local energy or building performance ordinance work
  • Professional certification such as LEED, CCP, CEM, or similar
  • Broad understanding of multi-trade MEP scopes
  • Strong awareness of team production capacity and delivery planning
  • Working knowledge of MEP-related design and documentation tools (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD)
  • Advanced understanding of energy and building codes as they relate to field services
