Solar Superintendent - Utility‑Scale Solar & BESS
Responsible for the field management of utility‑scale solar construction projects, including oversight of all self‑performed installation activities. Works closely with project management, engineering, and the customer to deliver solar projects ranging from less than $1M to $25M, on time, safely, and in compliance with project specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Leads all on-site solar construction activities, including module installation, DC/AC wiring, underground/overhead conduit, equipment setting, and grounding.
- Provides day‑to‑day direction, supervision, and leadership to field crews, foremen, and subcontractors.
- Ensures safe execution of all work by enforcing company, client, and OSHA safety standards; conducts daily toolbox talks and verifies JHAs.
- Inspects work for quality, NEC compliance, alignment with drawings/specifications, and adherence to contract requirements.
- Reviews and maintains redlines, construction documents, material inventories, and quality records.
- Coordinates daily and weekly planning meetings, including look‑ahead schedules, manpower planning, and equipment needs.
- Monitors field progress against schedule and productivity goals; identifies issues and recommends corrective actions.
- Coordinates field activities with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teams to ensure proper sequencing and minimal downtime.
- Supports commissioning through pre‑energization inspections, equipment checks, and punch list completion.
- Participates in client walk‑downs, site coordination meetings, and progress reporting.
- Ensures accuracy of project documentation, including testing records, daily reports, and field updates to project management.
Required:
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a superintendent or lead foreman in utility‑scale solar construction.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, OSHA requirements, and utility‑scale solar electrical systems.
- Proven experience supervising large self‑perform solar crews.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one‑lines, and construction documents.
- Computer proficiency with construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Office preferred).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours based on project requirements.
- OSHA safety training preferred.
