Traffic Project Manager & Team Lead

A Colorado‑based traffic and transit specialty consulting firm is seeking an experienced Traffic Project Manager & Team Lead to join its growing Colorado Springs office. Founded and built in Colorado, this firm delivers traffic and transit solutions across the U.S.-from small county traffic studies to large, multi‑state transit and infrastructure programs.

This is a high‑impact, long‑term opportunity for a senior traffic engineer who wants flexibility in how they contribute today-and a clear path to office leadership and succession over time.

The Opportunity:

This role is intentionally flexible and can be shaped around the right individual's strengths and career goals:

  • You may start in a purely technical, project‑focused role while being mentored into leadership, or
  • Step in with an existing team leadership/office leadership mindset, with a long‑term plan to take over the Colorado Springs office

The CEO and current office leadership are open to conversations with experienced engineers to understand what you bring and what you want to build, rather than forcing a one‑size‑fits‑all role.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead and manage traffic and/or transit projects ranging in scale from local agency studies to large, multi‑state programs
  • Serve as a technical expert on traffic engineering and transportation planning efforts
  • Support and mentor engineers and analysts as the team grows
  • Interface with clients, agencies, and stakeholders at local, state, and national levels
  • Contribute to project delivery, quality control, and technical problem‑solving
  • Over time, take on broader responsibilities such as:
    • Team leadership and staffing
    • Office operations and growth
    • Client development and strategic planning

What They're Looking For:

  • Colorado PE required
  • 10+ years of traffic engineering experience
  • Background spanning traffic operations, studies, and/or transit‑related projects
  • Experience working with DOTs, municipalities, counties, and/or transit agencies
  • Comfort operating in both technical and client‑facing roles
  • Interest in leadership, mentorship, and long‑term office growth (at your own pace)

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • True flexibility in role structure, responsibilities, and timeline
  • Clear succession opportunity for someone who wants to lead an office long-term
  • Work with a home‑grown Colorado firm that competes nationally
  • Exposure to a wide variety of projects-from local to complex, multi‑state efforts
  • Supportive, relationship‑driven leadership that values fit and long‑term impact
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
