Acoustic Consultant (Hybrid - New York City)
We are seeking an experienced Acoustic Consultant to join our growing team. This role involves supporting a wide range of architectural, mechanical, environmental noise control, and vibration isolation projects. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, detail‑oriented, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously in a client‑facing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide acoustic consulting across architectural and mechanical acoustics, environmental noise control, and vibration isolation projects.
- Manage all aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, scheduling, design coordination, and communication with clients and project teams.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the design team and the client/user group to ensure successful integration of acoustic design solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors to develop and refine project design details and prepare accurate system and product specifications.
- Collect and analyze noise and vibration data; perform calculations, site surveys, and construction administration punch‑list reviews.
- Utilize relevant software tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD/BIM platforms, EASE, Sound Plan, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Travel 5-15% of the time, domestically and internationally.
- Work in a hybrid capacity, with at least three days per week in our New York City office (up to five days depending on project needs).
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, architectural acoustics, physics, audio technology, or a related field with relevant acoustics coursework.
- 3+ years of professional experience in acoustics or a closely related area.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building strong working relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Client‑focused mindset with strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
- Functional knowledge of Bluebeam PDF software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
- Project Management certification is a plus.
