Assistant Project Manager - HVAC
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of commercial HVAC projects in the Raleigh, NC area. This role is ideal for someone with foundational construction or mechanical experience who is looking to grow into a full Project Manager position.
You will work closely with Project Managers, field teams, and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and executing HVAC construction projects
- Support scheduling, budgeting, and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal field teams
- Review project drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and completeness
- Track procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery to job sites
- Maintain project documentation, including RFIs, change orders, and reports
- Help manage project timelines and proactively identify potential delays or risks
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates to stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, local codes, and company procedures
- Support closeout processes including punch lists, documentation, and client handover
Qualifications
- 1-3+ years of experience in construction, mechanical contracting, or HVAC services
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); project management software experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to commercial HVAC systems (installation, service, or maintenance)
- Familiarity with construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of local Raleigh / North Carolina construction environment is a plus
