City Traffic Engineer
A Southern California municipality is seeking an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to serve as the City Traffic Engineer through a staff augmentation arrangement. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned transportation professional to play a key role in overseeing municipal traffic engineering activities, supporting public infrastructure initiatives, and providing technical leadership on transportation-related matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the City's designated traffic engineering expert and advisor.
- Review and approve traffic engineering studies, plans, and reports.
- Provide guidance on traffic operations, safety improvements, signal systems, and roadway design.
- Support development review activities, including traffic impact analyses.
- Collaborate with public works staff, consultants, developers, and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings, present recommendations, and respond to transportation-related concerns.
Qualifications
- Valid California Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Traffic Engineer (TE) license.
- Minimum of 12 to 15 years of traffic engineering experience.
- Prior municipal or city traffic engineering experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of traffic operations, transportation planning, traffic studies, and applicable California standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Work Arrangement
- On-site presence required a minimum of three days per week at City Hall.
- Long-term contract opportunity through a staff augmentation program.
