Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer - Public Works to join our growing team in Phoenix, Arizona. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of municipal infrastructure projects throughout the Valley, including roadway improvements, water and wastewater utilities, storm drainage systems, traffic improvements, and capital improvement programs (CIPs).
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, experience working with Arizona municipalities, and a desire to take on increasing levels of project responsibility while working alongside a collaborative team of engineers and project managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, reports, and technical documents for public works projects.
- Design and manage municipal infrastructure improvements, including:
- Roadways and intersections
- Drainage and stormwater systems
- Water distribution systems
- Wastewater collection systems
- Utility relocations and improvements
- Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and design development.
- Prepare cost estimates, bid documents, and construction plans.
- Coordinate with city staff, utility providers, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Support project permitting and agency approvals.
- Participate in project meetings, client presentations, and public outreach efforts as needed.
- Conduct site visits and assist during construction administration and observation phases.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver quality projects on schedule and within budget.
- Mentor junior engineers and EITs as experience level allows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- PE license preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- 5-12 years of civil engineering experience.
- Experience working on municipal/public works projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of Arizona municipal design standards and permitting requirements.
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Experience
- City of Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, or other Arizona municipal projects.
- Capital Improvement Programs (CIPs).
- Roadway and transportation improvements.
- Water and wastewater utility infrastructure.
- Drainage and flood control design.
- Construction administration and field support.
- Client management and proposal support.
