Construction Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy civil and water/wastewater treatment plant projects. This role will act as the main administrative and planning lead on assigned projects, overseeing startup, scheduling, billing, submittals, RFIs, contract management, cost control, financial reporting, and subcontractor coordination.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction, with hands-on experience managing W/WWTP projects and coordinating mechanical, electrical, integration, and civil scopes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project startup, planning, scheduling, and overall project administration
- Oversee project schedules to ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and within budget
- Lead project planning meetings and attend regular progress meetings
- Manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, field orders, delay logs, and project documentation
- Work with estimating teams on project buyout, cost proposals, and cost reports
- Track project costs, materials, subcontractor billings, vendor payments, and cost-to-complete reports
- Review and coordinate subcontractor and supplier payment requests
- Interpret contract documents and support contract claims or dispute resolution when needed
- Coordinate closely with owners, subcontractors, vendors, field teams, and internal leadership
- Manage billing, financial reporting, project forecasting, and owner submissions
- Mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers as needed
- Support minority participation goals and project compliance requirements
- Help resolve project issues proactively while maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders
- Participate in professional trade groups and support continued industry development
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience with water/wastewater treatment plant exposure
- Previous experience as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, or Project Engineer
- Strong understanding of W/WWTP construction, including mechanical, electrical, integration, and civil systems
- Ability to manage medium-sized projects from startup through closeout
- Experience with project financial reporting, cost-to-complete processes, billing, and cost control
- Strong knowledge of contract documents, claims, dispute resolution, and subcontractor management
- Experience coordinating with owners, vendors, subcontractors, and field teams
- Strong negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable solving problems independently
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent industry experience will also be considered
- Registered Professional Engineer license is a plus
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, P6, and Viewpoint preferred
