Design Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Composite Design Engineer to lead the design and development of FRP composite products for infrastructure applications. This role focuses on closed molding processes, structural analysis, and code compliant product development for tanks, buildings, covers, and other structural components.
What you will do
- Lead design and development of FRP composite products for infrastructure projects.
- Partner with the Composite Sales Manager on custom designs and new product opportunities.
- Optimize closed molding processes including RTM and vacuum infusion.
- Guide material selection across resins, reinforcements, cores, adhesives, and coatings.
- Apply relevant infrastructure codes and standards including IBC, AASHTO, ASCE, and ASTM.
- Perform structural analysis and support testing and validation.
- Work with the retiring engineer to absorb legacy knowledge and designs.
- Support production, QA, sales, and project management teams.
- Interface with customers and third party engineers as needed.
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Materials Science, or related field.
- At least 5 years of composite product design experience. Ten plus years preferred.
- Strong background in closed mold composite processes.
- Solid structural engineering fundamentals and composite materials knowledge.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD. SolidWorks preferred.
- FEA experience is a plus.
- PE license is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across teams.
- Willingness to travel and meet company driving requirements.
