Overview:
We are seeking a Development Manager to join a high-performing team driving renewable energy projects from concept to execution. This role involves managing project scope, schedule, and budget while coordinating across disciplines such as land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, engineering, and finance. Travel will be required for meetings, site visits, and public hearings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of profitable solar projects across Illinois.
- Oversee site selection, permitting, and interconnection processes.
- Set project strategy and guide teams for efficient execution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Support resolution of interconnection, permitting, and construction challenges.
- Drive financial modeling and optimize project economics.
- Navigate state solar and storage incentive programs (e.g., Illinois Shines, Illinois Solar for All).
- Negotiate and implement service agreements and real estate contracts.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and transition to construction.
- Oversee consultants and contractors during development.
- Provide analytical support for key project decisions.
- Represent the company at community meetings and public hearings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or graduate degree in business, finance, engineering, energy, law, or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of direct experience managing solar and/or storage projects, community solar experience needed.
- Need to have experience bringing projects through the Illinois Shines and Illinois Solar for All incentive programs.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and financial modeling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects from land control to NTP.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Legal eligibility to work and travel in the U.S.; valid driver's license.
- Comfortable performing site walks in varied terrain and weather conditions.
- Highly organized, proactive, and entrepreneurial with strong interpersonal skills.
