Electrical Installation Sales Manager

Electrical Installation Sales Manager

Location: Moorestown, NJ (Open to candidates located throughout the East Coast)

About the Opportunity

An established industrial electrical services organization is seeking an experienced Installation Sales Manager to drive growth across its nationwide electrical installation business. This individual will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing opportunities with industrial customers while building long-term strategic relationships that generate repeat business and sustainable revenue growth.

The successful candidate will leverage both commercial and technical expertise to support customers through capital projects, facility expansions, equipment upgrades, line relocations, shutdowns, turnarounds, and ongoing electrical service work. Working closely with Operations, Engineering, and Installation teams, the Installation Sales Manager will own the sales process from initial prospecting through project award and handoff for execution.

This role is well suited to a consultative sales professional who understands industrial environments, can engage technical and executive stakeholders, and has a proven track record of growing revenue within manufacturing, industrial, power, and process industry accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow electrical installation revenue within existing accounts and new target customers.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities including capital projects, facility expansions, electrical upgrades, controls installations, power distribution projects, line relocations, and maintenance service agreements.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline through networking, cold outreach, referrals, OEM relationships, EPC partnerships, general contractors, and industry events.
  • Drive new customer acquisition while expanding share of wallet within existing accounts.
  • Identify multi-site opportunities, repeat project work, and long-term strategic partnerships.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Establish strong relationships with plant managers, engineering managers, maintenance leaders, operations teams, project managers, procurement professionals, and executive stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand operational challenges, capital spending plans, production goals, and future project requirements.
  • Serve as the primary commercial point of contact throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Deliver a high level of customer satisfaction and position the company as a trusted long-term partner.

Opportunity Development & Proposal Management

  • Lead discovery meetings and site walkdowns to understand project scope and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical and operational teams to develop installation solutions aligned to customer objectives.
  • Support the development of project scopes, estimates, budgets, schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, cost justifications, revisions, RFIs, and contract negotiations.
  • Effectively communicate technical solutions in a way that demonstrates clear commercial value.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Installation teams to ensure successful project development and execution.
  • Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure customer expectations, project risks, and critical success factors are clearly communicated.
  • Share market intelligence, customer feedback, and competitive insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance customer experience and delivery performance.

Pipeline Management & Forecasting

  • Maintain accurate sales activity, opportunity stages, forecasts, and revenue projections within the CRM system.
  • Monitor key sales performance indicators including pipeline growth, proposal activity, win rates, account growth, bookings, and profitability.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and business updates to leadership.
  • Develop strategic account plans focused on maximizing long-term revenue growth.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of B2B sales, account management, or business development experience within industrial, electrical, automation, engineering, construction, EPC, or related technical markets.
  • Demonstrated success selling project-based solutions or services to industrial manufacturing customers.
  • Proven ability to prospect, develop opportunities, manage long sales cycles, and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
  • Experience engaging decision-makers at multiple levels including executives, plant leadership, engineering teams, maintenance personnel, operations leaders, and procurement professionals.
  • Strong understanding of project execution, including labour, materials, schedules, change orders, project budgets, and installation activities.
  • Experience utilising CRM systems, pipeline management tools, and sales forecasting processes.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 35% throughout the assigned territory.

Highly Preferred Background

  • Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electrician, Electrical Contractor, or other technical background that enables the individual to understand, evaluate, and support electrical installation projects.
  • Ability to conduct site walkdowns and participate in technical project discussions related to industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience selling for an industrial electrical contractor, system integrator, OEM, automation provider, engineering firm, or EPC organisation.
  • Familiarity with power distribution systems, MCCs, drives, instrumentation, controls, industrial networking, conveyor systems, production lines, and shutdown/turnaround projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate combines strong technical aptitude with proven industrial sales success and a deep understanding of manufacturing environments.

Particularly attractive candidates will demonstrate:

  • A technical foundation in electrical, power, automation, controls, or industrial systems.
  • Recent experience supporting industrial customers within sectors such as power and energy, manufacturing, packaging, corrugated, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage, or related process industries.

  • A proven history of managing account portfolios exceeding $5 million and delivering year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Strong new business development capabilities combined with the ability to expand existing customer relationships.
  • Experience selling to a diverse stakeholder group including C-suite executives, plant managers, engineering leaders, maintenance managers, buyers, and project teams.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex sales opportunities through structured CRM and forecasting processes.
  • A track record of long-term success and progression within previous organisations.

Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured through:

  • Growth in electrical installation revenue and gross margin.
  • Successful acquisition of new customers and expansion of existing accounts.
  • Health and progression of the sales pipeline.
  • Year-over-year account growth and share-of-wallet expansion.
  • High customer satisfaction, repeat business, and referral generation.
  • Effective collaboration with internal teams resulting in successful project execution and customer outcomes.

Culture & Values

The organisation values individuals who:

  • Take ownership and accountability for results.
  • Build strong, lasting customer relationships.
  • Operate with integrity and professionalism.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments and teams.
  • Remain focused on delivering exceptional value to customers.
  • Consistently do the right work, the right way.
