Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and/or residential HVAC projects, supporting preconstruction efforts, and helping secure profitable work in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents for HVAC projects
Prepare detailed takeoffs for ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
Develop accurate cost estimates including materials, labor, subcontractors, and equipment
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and internal teams during the bidding process
Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client consultations as needed
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local codes, market pricing, and industry trends in the Charlotte region
Support handoff to operations team upon project award
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in HVAC estimating (commercial preferred)
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, ductwork, piping, and HVAC equipment
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Bluebeam, or similar)
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with design-build or plan/spec projects
Knowledge of Charlotte-area subcontractors and suppliers
Familiarity with local building codes and permitting requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required)
