Project Manager - Mechanical (HVAC/Plumbing)
Location: Prince Frederick, MD (serving MD, VA & DC).
Position Overview
We are is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This individual will be responsible for managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and client relationships to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical construction projects (HVAC, plumbing, piping) from award to close-out
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasts
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules and manpower plans
- Coordinate with general contractors, owners, engineers, and field teams
- Oversee procurement of equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Manage subcontractors and vendors, ensuring performance and compliance
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
- Handle change orders, RFIs, and contract administration
- Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and reporting
- Lead project closeout including punch list, commissioning, and documentation
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction project management
- Strong background in HVAC, piping, or plumbing systems
- Experience managing commercial or government projects preferred
- Proven ability to manage projects valued from $100K to multi-million dollar range
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans and specifications
- Strong financial management and cost control skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Experience in design-build projects
- Familiarity with public sector or institutional construction
- OSHA certification (e.g., OSHA 30)
