The company is actively advancing both greenfield development and M&A, with several large‑scale assets now in construction or approaching COD. Position Overview

The Head of Asset Management will lead and oversee the full asset management function for the company's renewable energy portfolio in Japan. This role requires a seasoned leader capable of managing both the technical and commercial aspects of power assets, while providing strategic guidance to senior management.

The ideal candidate will bring strong cross‑functional expertise, people leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders. As the company continues to scale, this position will play a critical role in building and shaping the asset management team and processes.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the Asset Management division and oversee the full lifecycle performance of all operational and near‑operational assets.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for asset performance, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Partner closely with senior management, providing strategic insights and performance updates.

Technical Asset Management

  • Oversee technical operations, including electrical systems performance, plant optimisation, maintenance planning, and engineering review.
  • Manage contractors, EPC/O&M providers, and technical advisors to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with Japanese codes, grid requirements, environmental standards, and safety protocols.

Commercial Asset Management

  • Develop and manage asset‑level budgets, financial models, and long‑term performance forecasts.
  • Monitor revenue performance, PPA obligations, contracts, and key commercial agreements.
  • Support M&A activities and due diligence for new acquisitions, working closely with investment teams.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the asset management team in Japan.
  • Establish processes, KPIs, reporting frameworks, and best‑practice standards.
  • Foster collaboration across development, finance, engineering, and construction teams.

Requirements

  • Fluency in Japanese and English (reading, writing, and business communication).
  • 8-15+ years of experience in asset management, operations, engineering, or technical/commercial roles within energy, infrastructure, utilities, or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of both technical (electrical/mechanical systems, O&M, engineering) and commercial (budgeting, contracts, revenue models) aspects of renewable energy assets.
  • Experience managing teams and working with executive leadership.
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑growing, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proven stakeholder‑management skills, both internal and external.
