A leading heavy civil and utility contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee projects across Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia, based out of the Greenbelt/Beltsville region. This role manages field operations involving utilities, stormwater, sewer, and related civil infrastructure.
Key Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience in utility and/or site work
- Strong background in pipe installation, excavation, and water/sewer systems; stormwater experience is a plus
- Ability to lead field crews, foremen, and subcontractors on active civil projects
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; strong safety orientation
- Solid communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Basic computer skills (Excel and Outlook preferred)
Responsibilities
- Lead daily field operations to ensure projects meet schedule, safety, and budget goals
- Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials across multiple job sites
- Develop and maintain 3‑week look‑ahead schedules and adjust resources as needed
- Enforce safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, inspectors, and public agencies
- Ensure accurate reporting, documentation, and communication with the project manager
