Highway Design Engineer | Austin
Our client is seeking an experienced Highway Design Project Engineer to join a dynamic transportation design team focused on improving mobility and safety for communities across Texas. In this role, you will lead and collaborate on projects that enhance multimodal travel, improve roadway functionality, and create safer, more connected environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop transportation projects including new roadways, roadway widening, intersections, interchanges, roundabouts, complete streets, bicycle/pedestrian facilities, and transit improvements.
- Prepare concepts, studies, contract plans, cost estimates, and specifications.
- Apply federal, state (TxDOT), and local design standards and guidelines.
- Lead project teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, and government agencies.
- Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10 years of experience in civil or transportation/highway engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in MicroStation V8i, GEOPAK/OpenRoads, InRoads, and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of TxDOT, AASHTO, and local highway design standards.
- Familiarity with transportation planning reports and contract documents.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
