A growing transportation engineering firm is seeking a Senior Transportation Designer to join its dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work from either the Lawrence, Worcester, MA, or Portland, ME office and is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in roadway/highway design who is eager to advance their technical and professional skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for transportation projects including highways, roadways, and intersections
- Develop conceptual and final designs for municipal and state agency projects
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions
- Participate in QA/QC processes and project management tasks
- Mentor junior engineers and support their development
- Assist in client meetings and public presentations
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design software
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage tasks independently with attention to detail
- Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer is a plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- 4-12 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Familiarity with MassDOT design manuals, standards, and procedures
