An opportunity for an experienced HVAC Controls Estimator to join a specialist building automation organisation supporting complex, high-value projects across data centre and mission critical environments. This position blends detailed estimating with inside sales responsibility, offering a varied role with both technical depth and client interaction.

Role responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for HVAC controls and building automation projects, with a strong emphasis on data centres
  • Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
  • Develop bills of materials, labour estimates, and complete bid packages
  • Support inside sales activities, including handling inbound enquiries and qualifying opportunities
  • Build and develop relationships with clients, contractors, and partners through remote engagement
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure alignment between technical scope and commercial proposals
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing
  • Identify risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost efficiencies within bids
  • Support proposal development and client presentations where required
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, pricing, and emerging technologies in the data centre sector
Required experience and skills
  • Minimum 5 years of estimating experience within HVAC controls, BMS, or building automation
  • Strong technical understanding of BAS/BMS systems and control strategies
  • Ability to interpret MEP drawings and specifications accurately
  • Strong commercial awareness with high attention to detail
  • Confident communication skills with the ability to support client-facing and inside sales activity
Additional or desirable experience
  • Experience within other mission critical environments such as pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, or cleanrooms
  • Experience working with Johnson Controls systems or Tridium Niagara-based platforms is highly desirable
  • Exposure to client engagement, bid strategy, or technical sales support
  • Familiarity with high-reliability design principles and redundancy strategies
Systems and technologies
  • Building Management Systems and Building Automation Systems
  • DDC controls and associated field devices
  • Protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
  • Platforms such as Johnson Controls Metasys, Tridium Niagara (N4), Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, or Trend are advantageous
Location, travel, and working pattern
This role is based in the Greater Boston area, with a primarily remote working model and no travel requirements.
