HVAC Mechanical Technician
Position Summary
An established facilities services operation is seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Technician to support comprehensive mechanical maintenance and repair activities within a large, multi-building commercial environment. This role partners closely with building automation and controls personnel to ensure reliable, efficient HVAC operation across the campus.
Core Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercialHVAC and mechanical systems, including:
- Chillers and cooling towers
- Air Handling Units (AHUs)
- Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems
- Pumps, fans, heat exchangers, CRUs, and split systems
- Perform mechanical diagnostics, operational verification, and performance testing
- Replace and repair belts, motors, valves, pumps, and other mechanical components
- Recharge and service DX refrigerant systems in compliance with EPA standards
- Support HVAC system startups, shutdowns, and coordination with BAS/controls teams
- Monitor equipment performance and proactively address mechanical deficiencies
- Respond to emergency repairs and after-hours service requests as required
- Complete daily service documentation, logs, and maintenance reports
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on commercial HVAC mechanical experience
- Strong background in troubleshooting and repairing large-scale HVAC systems
- Mechanical Journeyman License (required)
- Valid EPA refrigerant handling certification
- Solid understanding of mechanical room operations and hospital-grade or commercial systems

- Ability to meet background screening and credentialing requirements
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and best practices
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
- Willingness to support after-hours, on-call, or emergency work when necessary
