Land Development - Senior Project Manager
A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to join its expanding Land Development team. This position offers the opportunity to lead projects from conception through completion while managing client relationships, mentoring engineering staff, and contributing to business growth.
The successful candidate will oversee project delivery, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets and schedules, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients across a variety of development projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Delivery
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of land development projects.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Monitor project progress and ensure delivery on time and within budget.
- Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight of civil engineering designs and analyses.
- Review and approve engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support the development of practical, innovative engineering solutions.
Team Leadership
- Mentor, develop, and support engineers, designers, and technical staff.
- Delegate project responsibilities and oversee team performance.
- Foster a collaborative environment focused on professional growth and project success.
Client & Business Development
- Act as the primary client contact throughout project lifecycles.
- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and future projects.
- Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and fee estimates.
- Participate in industry events, networking, and business development activities.
Financial Management
- Manage project financial performance, including budgets, utilization, and profitability.
- Monitor project billing and accounts receivable.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with contractual requirements and financial targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum 7-10 years of civil engineering experience, preferably within land development consulting.
- Proven experience managing projects, budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
- Experience mentoring and leading engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of site development, construction practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
