Job Description
We're looking for a licensed Survey Project Manager. Established in California, this firm supports the most exciting projects that are out there right now including LA28 Olympic Projects.
This land surveying team provides land surveying and mapping for projects of all sizes throughout Southern California. Our scope includes construction staking, ALTA land title surveys, boundary, topographic and aerial surveys, Condominium Plans, Vertical Airspace Maps, Parcel Maps, Tract Maps, legal descriptions and laser scanning services. Our team provides high quality surveying solutions to engineers, developers, architects, contractors, individuals, title companies, mortgage companies and public agencies.
What You'll Do
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee boundary analysis, mapping, and topographic survey computations to deliver accurate, defensible work products
- Take full ownership of project financials, including budgets, forecasts, scope control, and change management
- Lead quality assurance and review of survey deliverables such as plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, design mapping, and construction staking calculations
- Identify opportunities to expand services and assist with proposals to grow existing client accounts
- Develop proposals and partner with technical teams to define scope, approach, and staffing plans
- Manage, mentor, and develop survey field and office personnel
- Collaborate with the firms Geomatics Group and Delivery Leaders to align workload, staffing, and project priorities
- Ensure compliance with firmwide standards related to contracting, project accounting, and quality procedures
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships through responsive communication and reliable delivery
- Work closely with engineers, planners, and other disciplines to support integrated project execution
- Support recruiting efforts, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of survey staff
- Act as a visible leader who drives culture, accountability, and revenue performance
What You Bring
Required Qualifications:
- LSIT certification for PM I roles; California PLS required for PM II and above
- Minimum of 8 years of land surveying experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Proven experience managing projects and developing survey staff
- Strong client-facing communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of California mapping standards, the Subdivision Map Act, and local agency requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (PM II or higher)
- Experience using Trimble Business Center
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and the ability to review and interpret engineering design plans
Compensation: $155,000 - $175,000
Locations: Central Valley / Northern CA = Remote | Southern California: Flexible Hybrid
