Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Design Bigger. Build End-to-End. Own What You Create.
We're working with a national, employee-owned design-build firm with a coast-to-coast presence that is redefining how projects get delivered. This is a true "keys-to-trees" organization-handling everything from initial concept and financing through design, construction, and long-term performance.
As a certified ESCO, they are trusted to deliver some of the most complex, high-impact projects across the country-including industrial, commercial, data centers, and healthcare facilities.
They're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer in Columbus who wants more than traditional consulting work-someone who wants ownership, visibility, and the ability to see their designs built at scale.
What You'll Be Doing
- Drive mechanical (HVAC) system design across a diverse national project portfolio
- Work across the full lifecycle-from concept through construction and implementation
- Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and models in Revit/AutoCAD
- Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection
- Collaborate directly with construction, project management, and client stakeholders in a true design-build environment
- Play a hands-on role in delivering large-scale, complex projects with real-world impact
- Support construction phases, ensuring design intent is executed in the field
What You Bring
- 5+ years of mechanical design experience (MEP/building systems required)
- Strong HVAC design knowledge and understanding of codes and standards
- Experience with Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative design-build environment
- A mindset focused on ownership, accountability, and delivering results
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- EIT or PE license
- Experience working on large-scale or complex project types (industrial, healthcare, data centers, etc.)
Why This Role Stands Out
- National Platform: Work on projects across the country with a firm that has a coast-to-coast footprint
- Keys-to-Trees Delivery: Be involved in every stage-not just design, but execution and performance
- Certified ESCO: Exposure to high-performance, energy-focused projects with measurable impact
- ESOP Ownership: You're not just an employee-you benefit directly from the company's success
- Real Visibility: Your designs get built, and your voice is heard throughout the project lifecycle
- Hybrid Flexibility: Stay connected to the team while maintaining balance
This is a rare opportunity to step into a role where you're not just designing systems-you're helping deliver some of the most complex and meaningful projects in the country, from start to finish.
