Title: NYC Asbestos Inspector OR Investigator

A well-established environmental consulting firm with decades of experience supporting public and private sector clients is seeking a full-time NYC DEP Asbestos Investigator to join its team in the NYC Metropolitan area. Occasional assignments may be based out of satellite offices in Buffalo and Albany. Our projects are typically located at public facilities such as schools, hospitals, government buildings, and religious institutions.

They are known for delivering reliable, cost-effective hazardous materials assessments and remediation planning. Our team works closely with various New York State agencies and prides itself on a process-driven approach that ensures predictable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and mold

  • Prepare detailed reports based on site findings

  • Interpret and apply NYC DEP Title 15, NYS ICR 56, and other relevant regulations

  • Work independently and reliably in the field

  • Collaborate with agencies such as OGS, SUCF, DASNY, CUNY, NYPA, and MTA

  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Current NYCDEP Asbestos Investigator and NYSDOL Asbestos Inspector certifications required

  • Strong working knowledge of NYC, NYS, and Federal asbestos regulations

  • Preferred: USEPA Lead-based Paint Inspector, NYSDOL Project Monitor, NYSDOL Mold Assessor

  • OSHA30, scaffold safety, and confined space training preferred

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel overnight (~3 nights/month)

  • Valid driver's license and personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed)

  • Background screening required
