Position Title: Structural Project Engineer (Licensed PE - New York)

Overview

A well-established, multidisciplinary design and engineering firm is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to join its structural engineering team in New York City. This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who is looking to grow professionally while contributing to a wide range of building and infrastructure projects.


Role Summary

This position offers a blend of hands-on structural design work and opportunities for project coordination and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to take on increasing responsibility over time.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Duties

  • Perform structural analysis and design for various materials including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and design documentation.
  • Develop construction drawings, details, and other deliverables.
  • Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and evaluate shop drawings.
  • Conduct site visits for construction observation and field verification.
  • Carry out structural assessments and design solutions for repairs, retrofits, and forensic investigations.
  • Participate in quality control reviews and peer checks.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure cohesive and integrated design solutions.

Project & Leadership Development

  • Assist in defining project scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Attend client meetings and support technical presentations.
  • Help manage internal resources and mentor junior staff.
  • Contribute to proposal development and project estimates.
  • Monitor project progress and help identify and mitigate risks.

Qualifications

  • Licensed PE in New York State (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 4-10+ years of experience in structural engineering within a consulting or design environment
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software
  • Experience with Revit or similar BIM tools is highly desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
