About the Role

The Energy Systems Advisory team is seeking an experienced Senior Power System Engineer with a strong emphasis on Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) Studies to support work across renewable generation and power grid applications.

The team delivers practical, cost‑conscious, and technically rigorous solutions to participants in power generation, transmission, and distribution. This role is suited for an individual who combines technical leadership with a customer‑focused mindset and who is motivated to support the continued growth of advisory services in North America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute EMT‑related analyses including sub‑synchronous resonance (SSR), subsynchronous control interaction (SSCI), ferroresonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), harmonic studies, system energization, and related phenomena
    * Build, calibrate, and fine‑tune dynamic system models using tools such as PSCAD, and perform benchmarking and validation against PSSE or other planning models
    * Author and review clear, high‑quality technical reports and client‑facing presentations for both internal teams and external stakeholders
    * Manage assigned studies to meet scope, schedule, quality, and budget expectations
    * Act as a technical authority for EMT and specialized power system studies
    * Provide subject matter expertise related to bulk transmission system performance and grid reliability
    * Design, adapt, or enhance automation scripts to improve simulation efficiency, accuracy, and repeatability
    * Participate in industry working groups, technical forums, and stakeholder meetings (remote and in‑person)
    * Monitor and interpret ongoing regulatory and planning developments, including changes tied to NERC and FERC requirements
    * Contribute to internal research initiatives, tool development, and methodological improvements to expand technical capability and delivery efficiency
    * Support business development efforts by collaborating on proposals, statements of qualifications, and responses to RFPs, as well as cultivating client relationships
