Senior Civil Engineer
A well-established civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing municipal infrastructure team.
This position offers exposure to a broad and varied portfolio of public infrastructure projects, supported by a strong backlog of secured work. The successful candidate will take a hands-on technical role while also supervising engineering staff, reviewing designs and supporting project delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to remain technically involved while progressing into greater project and team leadership responsibilities. The client is looking to make multiple hires in their New Orleans, Houma and Baton Rouge offices.
Projects may include:
- Municipal roadway and transportation improvements
- Drainage and stormwater infrastructure
- Water distribution and sewer collection systems
- Water and wastewater infrastructure, excluding treatment plant design
- Levees and storm protection systems
- Coastal restoration and resilience projects
- Bridges, tunnels and other complex municipal structures
- Flood protection and public infrastructure improvements
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and delivery of municipal civil engineering projects
- Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, calculations and technical reports
- Provide technical oversight and quality control throughout the project lifecycle
- Supervise, mentor and support junior engineers, designers and technical staff
- Coordinate with clients, subconsultants, contractors and public agencies
- Manage project priorities, schedules and deliverables
- Support permitting, bidding and construction-phase activities
- Contribute to the continued growth and technical development of the municipal engineering group
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer licensure, or the ability to obtain it within the relevant state
- Strong technical experience within municipal or public infrastructure engineering
- Experience delivering projects involving roadway, drainage, water, sewer, flood protection or coastal infrastructure
- The ability to review technical work and provide clear engineering direction
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or coordinating engineering staff
- Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and technical priorities simultaneously
