Senior Project Manager - Solar
A growing developer/IPP focused on C&I and distributed energy solar projects is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead construction execution for solar PV and battery energy storage projects delivered through third‑party EPC contractors. This role manages multiple projects or portfolios simultaneously, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead construction execution for complex solar and storage projects, including multi‑project portfolios
- Oversee third‑party EPC contractors, monitoring schedule, cost, quality, safety, and reporting
- Track progress against contractual milestones and approve invoices and payment applications
- Review construction contracts, change orders, and project documentation to manage risk
- Identify and mitigate schedule, budget, and execution risks throughout construction
- Coordinate with field teams, engineers, utilities, and internal stakeholders
- Participate in site walks, inspections, and commissioning activities
- Maintain required construction documentation (insurance, lien waivers, warranties, commissioning closeout)
- Provide regular status updates on progress, risks, and key milestones
- Mentor junior project management staff and support standardized PM practices
Qualifications
- 5-8+ years of experience in solar, energy storage, or construction project management
- Experience managing multiple projects and overseeing third‑party EPC contractors
- Strong understanding of solar PV construction and electrical infrastructure
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Familiarity with civil, electrical, and utility construction practices
- Experience with commissioning of PV and battery energy storage systems
- Proficiency with tools such as Procore, MS Project, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
Preferred
- 8-10+ years of total construction or renewable energy experience
- Knowledge of medium‑voltage systems and SCADA/monitoring platforms
- OSHA 10 certification (minimum)
- NABCEP, CSL, or similar professional certifications a plus
