Senior Stormwater Engineer

An established multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to join its Memphis, Tennessee office. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex hydrologic and hydraulic engineering efforts across a wide variety of infrastructure and land development projects.
Role Overview
The Senior Stormwater Engineer will perform and oversee stormwater analysis and design activities for projects including flood studies, flood risk assessments, CLOMR/LOMR applications, transportation and bridge projects, site development, and stormwater infrastructure improvements. Responsibilities also include directing technical staff and collaborating closely with project leadership on drainage-related components of multidisciplinary projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater studies, including floodplain and floodway modeling, flood risk assessments, and complex conveyance system evaluations
- Develop drainage designs for site development, transportation, and infrastructure projects, including stormwater conveyance systems, detention and retention facilities, water quality systems, open channels, grade control structures, bridge scour protection, and channel stabilization
- Prepare construction plans, technical reports, and drainage-related specifications
- Coordinate and review work performed by assigned team members to ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness
- Support regulatory submittals such as no-rise certifications and flood map revisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Tennessee or ability to obtain via reciprocity
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and stormwater design
- Proficiency with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, GIS, and Autodesk Civil 3D
- Experience with additional tools such as Civil 3D Storm Sewer Analysis (SSA) or OpenFlow is a plus
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Excellent attention to detail and strong technical communication skills
