Senior Structural Project Manager
About the Firm
This is a well-established structural engineering firm operating at a national scale, with a deep specialization in education-sector work across California. The team has extensive experience delivering K-12 and higher education projects through DSA, and rounds out its portfolio with healthcare, commercial, government, and sports and entertainment work. The culture is built around collaboration, engineer development, and delivering quality outcomes for clients. This is a firm that takes its work seriously without taking itself too seriously.
About the Role
This firm is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer ready to step into a leadership capacity and take meaningful ownership of projects from schematic design through construction administration. The bread and butter here is California education work -- K-12 campuses, higher education facilities, and the DSA process that comes with them. If you've spent time in that space and want to go deeper with a team that knows it well, this is a strong fit. You'll interface directly with clients and owners, manage project teams, and contribute across a broad range of structural systems. This position is hybrid and based out of Anaheim, CA. Relocation assistance will be considered for candidates currently based elsewhere in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Lead coordination with architects, consultants, and owner representatives throughout the design and construction process
- Manage structural design and documentation to meet project schedules and budget targets
- Author specifications, perform material and member selection, and complete design calculations across a range of structural systems
- Review shop drawings and RFIs, respond to change proposals, and incorporate field changes into project documents
- Write defensible engineering reports, memos, and correspondence for internal and external audiences
- Conduct site observations during construction and document findings in formal observation reports
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis; Master's degree preferred
- Structural Engineer (S.E.) license required or actively pursuing; PE considered for strong candidates
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive structural engineering experience
- 3 or more years leading multi-discipline project teams preferred
- Experience working with the California Division of the State Architect (DSA) is strongly preferred; candidates without DSA experience but with a strong education-sector background are encouraged to apply
- Solid working knowledge of applicable design codes including ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, and NDS
- Proficiency in structural engineering software such as ETABS, SAFE, RISA, RAM, or ENERCALC, plus standard office and markup tools
What's Offered
- Competitive base salary ranging from approximately $111K to $166K, depending on experience and location within California
- Discretionary bonus potential on top of base compensation
- Full benefits package including medical and financial benefits
- Hybrid work schedule with flexibility built in
- Relocation assistance considered for the right candidate
- A firm with a deep California education portfolio and the reputation to match -- you'll work on projects that matter to communities
