Salary Range: $120,000 - $165,000+ base salary, depending on experience, licensure, and project management responsibilities.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join a growing and highly respected engineering team in the Boston area. This position is focused on the structural design and delivery of building projects across a diverse portfolio including K-12, higher education, healthcare, commercial, mixed-use, institutional, and public-sector facilities.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in building structures, proven project management experience, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects from concept design through construction administration.
- Design and analyze building structures utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and foundation systems.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong client relationships.
- Review structural calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for quality and accuracy.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and engineering staff.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and project coordination meetings.
- Provide construction-phase support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site observations.
- Contribute to business development efforts and help identify new opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- 6-15 years of structural engineering experience focused on buildings.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- Structural Engineer (S.E.) license preferred.
- Strong experience with commercial, healthcare, education, institutional, or mixed-use building projects.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including client interaction and team leadership.
- Experience working directly with architects, owners, and contractors.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
