Structural Engineer
An established building solutions firm is seeking a licensed Structural Engineer (SE) or Professional Engineer (PE) to help expand and strengthen its structural engineering capabilities in the Seattle, Washington market. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to play a key role in building out an existing structural practice and enhancing the firm's local presence.
Position Summary
The Structural Engineering Lead will contribute both technically and strategically to the continued development of the firm's structural engineering group in Seattle. This individual will support project delivery while helping to grow the department, elevate technical standards, and increase market visibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the expansion and development of the structural engineering practice in the Seattle region
- Serve as Engineer of Record for a variety of commercial, residential, and mixed-use building projects
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for structural designs, calculations, and construction documentation
- Collaborate closely with architectural, MEP, and construction teams to deliver integrated project solutions
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, developers, and local stakeholders
- Contribute to mentorship and development of junior staff as the team grows
- Assist in refining internal processes, standards, and best practices
- Support business development activities, including proposals and client engagement
Qualifications
- Active Structural Engineer (SE) license or Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 8-15+ years of experience in structural engineering, including project leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of local building codes, seismic design, and Pacific Northwest structural requirements
- Experience delivering a variety of building types (commercial, residential, institutional, or mixed-use)
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
Preferred Experience
- Experience contributing to the growth or expansion of a structural engineering team or service line
- Familiarity with the Seattle or broader Pacific Northwest market
- Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrated design environments
