About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing engineering firm that specializes in the design and analysis of industrial facilities and heavy industrial structures across North America. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to work on challenging steel and concrete projects within industrial, manufacturing, processing, energy, and infrastructure environments while collaborating with a highly experienced multidisciplinary team.
Position Summary
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and evaluation of industrial structures utilizing steel and reinforced concrete systems. This individual will support projects from concept development through construction, providing practical engineering solutions for new facilities, expansions, retrofits, and structural assessments.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural steel and reinforced concrete systems for industrial facilities.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
- Develop structural designs for equipment support structures, pipe racks, access platforms, foundations, buildings, and other industrial infrastructure.
- Perform structural evaluations, condition assessments, and retrofit designs for existing facilities.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, piping, electrical, and civil engineers.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor submittals during construction.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, design standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
- Provide technical support throughout design and construction phases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
- 4+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, power, energy, chemical, mining, or heavy commercial facilities.
- Experience designing structural steel and reinforced concrete systems.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RISA-3D, RAM, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar programs.
- Working knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC Steel Manual, and applicable industry design standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
