A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee water, wastewater, and underground utility construction projects throughout the Houston area. This role will be responsible for managing field operations, driving project schedules, ensuring safety compliance, and coordinating crews, subcontractors, and equipment to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all daily field operations on heavy civil and utility construction projects.
  • Manage project schedules and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Oversee installation of water lines, sanitary sewer, storm drain, and related utility infrastructure.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Coordinate activities between project management, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and clients.
  • Conduct daily site meetings, safety briefings, and progress updates.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure proper execution.
  • Track production, manpower, and project progress while identifying and resolving field challenges.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Mentor and develop field personnel, foremen, and crew members.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent within heavy civil, underground utility, or water/wastewater construction.
  • Strong experience managing wet utility projects including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects safely and efficiently.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • OSHA certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally within the Houston market.

Preferred Experience:

  • Water treatment plant or wastewater treatment plant construction.
  • Large-diameter utility installation.
  • Lift stations, force mains, and drainage infrastructure.
  • Municipal and public works construction projects.
