Position Overview
An established transportation-focused engineering team is seeking an experienced Traffic Project Engineer to support and lead traffic and transportation design projects. This role provides technical expertise and task-level leadership on roadway, bridge, and interchange improvements, as well as intersection and pedestrian/bicycle facility projects. The selected candidate will serve as a Task Manager, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs comply with local agency and state DOT standards.

Required Credentials
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Licensure: Texas Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Certification: Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) preferred
- Driver's License: Valid driver's license required
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare traffic signal design plans for new intersections and signal modifications, with emphasis on multimodal accommodations
- Develop temporary traffic control plans (TCPs), traffic management plans (TMPs), and signing and pavement marking plans
- Prepare street lighting design plans and perform photometric analysis using lighting design software
- Develop Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design plans
- Prepare quantities and develop Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) packages in support of roadway and highway projects
- Assist with conceptual intersection layouts, schematics, signal timing plans, and traffic engineering reports
- Serve as task-level lead and provide supervision and mentoring to junior engineers
- Participate in and attend project meetings with clients and stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- 5-10 years of traffic engineering experience
- PE required; PTOE preferred
- Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD (OpenRoads experience preferred)
- Knowledge of TxDOT and/or other DOT traffic design standards, MUTCD, and AASHTO criteria
- Local or state DOT project experience preferred
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with federal guidelines
- Successful completion of a post-offer fit-for-duty evaluation, if applicable
- Satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
