Transportation Project Manager

My client is a long‑established, Illinois‑based engineering firm with a robust, multidisciplinary practice. With nearly a 100 years of experience delivering fully integrated, in‑house solutions from concept through completion, they have earned a reputation for combining efficient engineering and architectural expertise with a highly skilled, diverse team. Their capabilities span across multiple markets, allowing them to support complex projects with comprehensive technical insight. They are currently seeking an experienced transportation engineer to join their team as a Project Manager and play a key role in leading impactful infrastructure projects across Illinois.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee technical & support staff as they carry out a variety of project assignments.
  • Lead the planning & design of roadway, site development, & stormwater infrastructure projects.
  • Develop Phase I project documentation.
  • Produce Phase II plans, specifications, & cost estimates.
  • Prepare engineering reports, drainage analyses, safety studies, & other project‑related technical materials.
  • Work with DOT design policy manuals & maintain familiarity with DOT submittal & permitting processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide guidance & mentorship to junior staff.
  • Maintain communication & build relationships with both public‑sector & private‑sector clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required in the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience, with a focus on roadway and transportation engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D; experience with MicroStation/Geopak/OpenRoads Designer is strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in drainage design is advantageous.
