Our client, a leading real estate investment and development firm, is seeking a VP/SVP of Construction Management to lead the design, engineering, and construction of a cutting-edge, multi-phase data center project totaling 245 MW. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to shape a flagship development and influence future growth in the data center sector.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will manage the full lifecycle of a major data center development-from planning and design through procurement, construction, and delivery-while collaborating on investment strategy and operational execution. This individual will work closely with external advisors, owner's representatives, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end management of a large-scale, multi-phase data center development and construction project.
- Collaborate with external representatives, advisors, and contractors on planning, design, procurement, and delivery.
- Partner with internal teams to prepare investment strategies and proposals for executive leadership, considering various delivery models (powered land, powered shell, turnkey) and market segments (hyperscale, colocation, network dense).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project execution, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Identify and mitigate risks across legal, financial, market, and technical dimensions in partnership with internal and external risk managers.
- Ensure construction meets industry standards for reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Coordinate with utility providers and regulatory bodies to secure power and water resources.
- Evaluate opportunities for additional data center developments across the company's land portfolio.
- Maintain strong relationships within the data center industry and stay informed on market trends and regulatory changes.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10+ years leading large-scale data center development and construction projects.
- Expertise: Deep knowledge of data center design, engineering, and operations, including power, MEP, and network infrastructure.
- Strong project management and financial modeling skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Established network within the data center sector and familiarity with industry best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and executive presence.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
